The wind flows, thick with wood smoke<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n and leaf-snagged chatter from far away roads.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n I sink my hands into the mud and dredge<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n the fallen patterns of the sun.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n In swaths of star-shaped leaves, I see math’s of <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n empty measure; by dockside, waves gathering.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The wind urges them on, and I listen for the crash.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n Air, mud, trees, seas.
